The Role of the End-to-End Encryption in Modern Cybersecurity
Abstract. The increasing prevalence of cyber threats has underscored the critical need for robust data protection mechanisms in modern cybersecurity practices. End-to-end encryption (E2EE) plays a pivotal role in securing digital communications by ensuring that data is encrypted at its origin and only decrypted by the intended recipient, effectively safeguarding it from interception and unauthorized access. This presentation explores the essential role of E2EE in contemporary cybersecurity frameworks, examining its applications across various sectors, including messaging platforms, financial services, and cloud computing. It also addresses the challenges faced in implementing E2EE, such as balancing security with law enforcement needs and the potential for misuse. By analyzing both the technical aspects and the broader societal implications, this talk aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how E2EE contributes to the integrity, privacy, and confidentiality of digital interactions in an increasingly interconnected world.
